Dr. Laura Manyweather brings over 27 years of nonprofit experience, driven by a deep commitment to social justice and educational equity. She holds a terminal degree in Educational Leadership, with a focus on Social Justice, from California State University, Long Beach. Her research centers on dismantling barriers within the Prison Industrial Complex and highlighting the strengths Black males bring to higher education. Through her work, Dr. Manyweather aims to influence policy and challenge the negative perceptions that some faculty and private employers may hold toward formerly incarcerated individuals.
Dr. Manyweather is the visionary behind the Reentry Success Pathway Program and the founder of a Rising Scholars Chapter at West Los Angeles College, initiatives designed to support reentry students on their educational journeys. She has co-authored several articles exploring the experiences of formerly incarcerated students in community colleges, furthering her advocacy for this resilient group. Currently, she serves as an Associate Professor with the Los Angeles Community College District and is a Lead Nonprofit Developer for Tetracore Consulting LLC, where she continues her impactful work with reentry populations.
