In the role of the Program Coordinator, this person will work with the P2P team, scholars, budgets, and procedures to ensure the implementation and success of our programs (primarily the P2P Scholars Program and its affiliated courses and workshops). This person will: (1) monitor team and scholar interactions; (2) make sure program plans stay within time constraints; (3) help raise necessary funds; and (4) work with research staff to collect and assess programmatic data. P2P email will be provided for P2P-related work.
In the role of the Research Coordinator, this person will assist the Director of Research and Evaluation and the ComPASS leadership team (including our faculty partner at Johns Hopkins University) in coordinating the structural level intervention. This person should bring experience in project management.
Salary
$40,000-$52,000
General Responsibilities:
- Monitor and respond to P2P intake submissions.
- Recruits and coordinates research subjects, as appropriate.
- Serves as one of the principal administrative liaisons for the project.
- Oversees and coordinates the provision of administrative and staff services to direct the investigators.
- Develops and maintains recordkeeping systems and procedures.
- Assist with ordering and procurement of supplies and equipment.
Specific Responsibilities:
Program Coordinator
- Use and update the P2P Coordinator Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Use the Pre-drafted Emails & P2P Intake Form. We ask that you use that for pre-drafted emails. All program coordinators are collectively involved in responding to all general inquiries. It is suggested that you check the P2P Intake form once per week and develop a good system of responding to and recording the responses.
- Use the P2P Google Folder to store all files and materials and maintain organization of those files. Includes: All Scholar Files. Curriculum Files. Promotional Files. Pre-drafted Emails. Training Documents. Signed Agreements. Persons in this position are encouraged to explore and ask questions or make suggestions to improve this system.
- Program Coordinators are responsible for roughly 3-4 P2P cohorts per year and serve as case managers. Specific cohort tasks include:
- (a) Before Workshop: Coordinate P2P participants for program participation.
- (b) During Workshop: Log P2P scholar assignments & feedback. Prepare workshop materials.
- (c) After Workshop: Match and Manage Scholar-Tutor-Mentor Trios. You will be asked to contact each Trio once per month to 1) make sure they have connected and 2) provide additional support where needed.
Research Coordinator
- Coordination of internet installation alongside the P2P IT team with both the MD and MO DOC administration teams and associated prison leadership teams.
- Coordination of participant surveys, interviews, and of participant compensation (under Mr. Eikenberry’s direct supervision).
- Help coordinate all team meetings
- Help maintain the Apricot system that will be used for study data collection (starting in 2026-2027).
Deliverables:
Program Coordinator
- Attend and participate in Required Meetings:
- 2-hour weekday P2P Program Team Meeting once per week
- 3-hour weekend or weekday weekly P2P Scholars Program workshops.
- Be the in-person point of contact person for P2P sessions that are delivered in-person inside of local prisons.
- You are expected to be in-person on-site (in MD) at least 2-3 days per week for sessions that are roughly 3 hours in length
- You will receive a travel stipend for facilities that are outside a 25 mile radius from your place of residence. Travel stipend will include: the federal mileage rate 2023 of 65.5 cents per mile. No other costs will be paid. This will be capped at 4 trips per month. We do not anticipate requiring you to travel outside the 25 mile radius more than 4 times per month.
- Manage at least 3 P2P Scholar Program cohorts, which will include the following:
- Scholar Management: recruit, retain, & manage scholars using P2P CRM software (Google and/or Apricot).
- Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and manage ~50 volunteers per year using P2P CRM software (Google and/or Apricot).
- Placement Management: Help place & retain at least 50 scholars per year in jobs and postsecondary education (PSE) programs.
- Mentor Management: Recruit, train, and manage mentors using P2P CRM software (Google and/or Apricot).
Research Coordinator
- Attend and participate in Required Meetings:
- 1.5-hour weekly P2P Research & Evaluation Team Meeting
- Weekly meeting with ComPASS supervisor and leadership team as indicated
- Manage the research participants in the prison sites in your state (starting 2026-2027).
- Collect and maintain data
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred. Postsecondary Certificate or Associates Degree in relevant field(s) acceptable.
- Key Skills: Critical thinking, problem solving, organization, attention to detail, leadership, clear spoken and written communication, active listening, social grace.
Preferred Experience and Education:
- 2-5 years’ relevant professional experience working closely with currently or formerly incarcerated populations.
- Directly impacted by the criminal legal system:
- Formerly incarcerated
- Any period of time incarcerated in a prison or jail
- Criminal conviction on your record with no incarceration time.
- Immediate family member (parent or sibling) incarcerated
