College Guild: Executive Director

The Executive Director of College Guild is responsible for the organization's overall success by providing strategic, operational, ethical, and inspirational leadership consistent with the mission, values, policies, applicable laws, and regulations. We are seeking a dynamic individual with a passion for education, a commitment to social impact, and the ability to navigate the complexities of managing a non-profit on a national scale, including driving fundraising efforts to secure financial support for our programs and initiatives.

Salary

$53,000 - $56,400

Essential Functions:

Fundraising and Financial Management:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to support College Guild's mission and programs.
  • Cultivate relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and other funding sources to secure financial support.
  • Develop and supervise the management of the annual budget. Ensure efficient, accurate, and consistent financial operations and practices.
  • Ensure College Guild's financial health by working with the Finance Committee to prepare and manage budgets.
  • Lead efforts to secure and grow financial support, adapting to the evolving landscape of fundraising in today's climate, including engagement with community members, organizations, and the public.
  • Make informed technology decisions, ensuring the organization's infrastructure supports its mission effectively.
  • Full circle event management.
Leadership:
  • Assess and respond to the needs of students, volunteers, staff, and Board members.
  • Balance strategic and tactical responsibilities, representing College Guild nationally.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and assessment of business plans with the Board.
  • Identify and address emerging issues, upholding diversity, equity, and inclusion commitments.
  • Serve as College Guild’s chief ambassador within key networks.
Advocacy:
  • Work with businesses, media, and the public to advance awareness and support nationally.
  • Foster relations among staff, Board, and partner organizations.
  • Advocate for College Guild's mission locally, statewide, regionally, and nationally.
Overseeing Staff and General Management:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations, providing direction and supervision to staff and volunteers
  • Build and lead a dynamic and cohesive team, developing staff members to their highest potential.
  • Monitor workplace ethos, nurturing a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Cultivate a hybrid work environment, promoting flexibility while maintaining a strong organizational culture.
  • Attend the office in Brunswick, Maine, ideally once a week, to facilitate in-person collaboration and engagement and ensure proper financial controls related to donations.
Board Relations:
  • Collaborate with the Board to develop and execute a strategic plan.
  • Assist the Board in fulfilling governance responsibilities.
  • Advise and educate board members, identify new members, and develop strong partnerships.
  • Plan and prepare for Board Meetings, keeping the Board informed of the organization's status.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, including securing grants, cultivating major donors, and implementing fundraising campaigns.
  • Minimum of three years of administrative/management experience in a non-profit setting with proven people management skills, both with staff and volunteers
  • The role involves a hybrid work environment with the expectation of attending the office in Brunswick, Maine, once a week. Experience working with hybrid teams is a must.
  • Proficiency with accounting, database, and workflow software (Salesforce, Excel, QuickBooks, Google Nonprofit Suites, Little Green Light).
  • Demonstrated ability in marketing, and communications.
  • Successful experience working with a Board of Directors.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Experience establishing strong community relations.
  • The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for social impact, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and mission-driven environment.
